About Me
Born in North Carolina and raised between Houston, Texas, and Iwakuni, Japan, I am of Japanese and Black American descent. Much of my life has been shaped by existing between places, identities, and expectations—never fully fitting into the stories written for me, and learning instead to author my own.
I have been making multimedia art since I was 8 years old, using whatever materials I could find around the house. Long before I understood the language of artistic practice, I understood the instinct to create. If I couldn't have something, I learned to make it. If I couldn't find it, I imagined it.
As a third-generation carpenter, fashion experimentalist, and inventor, I create the things I once wished I could buy. We couldn't afford new school clothes every year, and I remember sewing my jeans to fit the body I had rather than the one the world expected. I never got to be the fashion-forward androgynous gyaru gurl I imagined myself becoming, but that yearning never disappeared. It transformed into resourcefulness, invention, and an enduring love of self-expression.
For five years(2018-2022) I worked as an exotic dancer. It taught me more about humanity than any classroom ever could: how people perform strength and vulnerability, how desire and survival intertwine, how to read a room, hold boundaries, adapt, and endure. It sharpened my intuition and deepened my understanding of labor, power, femininity, and the stories we tell ourselves to keep moving forward.
I am a yearner and a fighter. Somewhere between those two selves lives a softness I fiercely protect—a flower petal capable of surviving impossible conditions and still unfolding toward the light.
Life has required hustle. I have often had to trust my hands before I could trust myself. I know what it means to rebuild from the ground up, to walk away and begin again rather than allow others to rewrite, soften, or cover up my story. I have struggled with trusting my own voice, yet I continue returning to it because it is the only place my work can truly begin.
Everything I make carries traces of where I've been: tenderness, grit, curiosity, (contradiction!), and persistence. Every piece is delicate... but inviting in its intention.
Everything is made by hand.
Everything is made from my heart.
Don't Give Up Baby, Just Give in.
